    Welcome to
    Antiques & Moore!
THIS LISTING IS FOR A LOVELY LEAD CRYSTAL "JUMPING DOLPHINS" SCULPTURE SIGNED BY SWEDISH ARTIST MATS JONASSON, #33576.
    Measures 5 1/2" high, 4 1/2" wide (at base) and 1 3/4" thick. Weighs 3 pounds.
This beautiful sculpture is carved on the reverse side of the glass achieving a realistic three-dimensional design that gives life to the dolphins. It is in excellent condition with no noted flaws other than faint minor scratches on base from normal wear.
Mats Jonasson is known for his crystal sculptures that include all forms of animal life with each crafted by glass artists in Sweden using high quality Swedish crystal. Designs are engraved into the back of free-formed crystal, sometimes colored in vibrant hues or left unadorned as is this sculpture.
Mats Jonasson began in 1959 as an apprentice engraver and spent thirty years working with many of the most respected contemporary glass artists in Sweden. During this time he developed his own unique style capturing the natural realistic characteristics of each animal he engraved. In 1981, his company in Maleras, Sweden began contributing 5% of the company's proceeds from the sale of 12 of his wildlife sculptures to an International organization that regulates the trade of endangered flora and fauna species.
His engraved sculptures are very collectible and make a beautiful statement on any shelf or desk top.
This sculpture is signed on the base with his engraved signature and is numbered. It also has its original foil label reading "Mats Jonasson, Sweden, Signature Collection, Hand Made in Sweden, Lead Crystal 28% PbO".
