A tough 1840 better date seated liberty dollar graded XF 45 by NGC. This is a very popular date among collectors as it was the minted during the first year of the seated liberty dollar series. It holds strong detail for the grade with a nice original patina among both sides.
This Philadelphia Mint date holds a low mintage of only 61,005. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 2,500 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 39 graded Extra Fine 45 by NGC.
